About Linda
Linda Green is an Alaska certified music teacher who runs a private studio and is a working musical performer. She came to Anchorage via the AF Band in 1979 and completed her BA in Music Education at UAA. She is trained in Suzuki piano bk. 1 & 2 and has experience with special needs students. Linda has over 30 years teaching experience through various fine arts camps, ASD and private lessons.
In addition, she has developed a composition curriculum used in her Creative Composition Workshops. This was inspired by the opportunity to teach music composition as an intensive for the ASD and composition workshop for the Anchorage Keyboard Festival.
One of Linda’s strongest assets is that she is a working, performing musician. She has over 25 years of experience writing arrangements for instrumental and vocal groups and has performed in a variety of venues: Anchorage Symphony Orchestra, Anchorage Opera, Alaska Light Opera Theater, Conexion Latina, Anchorage Blaskapelle, Sonora Sensacion, Anchorage Jazz Ensemble, Swing Dawgs, Power of Ten, the Bill Tull Orchestra, Power of Ten (a Tower of Power tribute band) and Son Latino.
Linda is a resident artist with The Character Workshop, a nonprofit theater company where her primary roles were in Gilbert and Sullivan operetta’s. The group performs varied and unique Christmas songs at local facilities during the holiday season.
Linda has a strong relationship with the regional theater, Davenport Theatrical in Washington state. There she performed as Cinderella’s mother and the giantess in the production of “Into The Woods.” She was also asked to serve as the maestro for their production of “Big Fish” in 2016.
Being out in the real world is an invaluable experience that can only encourage and inspire young musicians.
In addition to teaching privately and performing with local groups, Linda serves as the choir director for Immanuel Presbyterian church and volunteers at the VA Domiciliary in Anchorage, a facility for homeless veterans where she gives piano lessons as part of occupational therapy.
Linda belongs to the Music Teachers National Association and The International Trumpet Guild. She is past board president of The Alaska Fine Arts Camp, member of The Anchorage Keyboard Teachers Association past coordinator for Alaska Music Link (see favorite links page) and past president of Alaska Music Teachers Association.
Linda has shared her musical expertise and served as a trumpet adjudicator for the 2006 Alaska All State Band auditions, brass ensemble adjudicator in 2007 and trumpet and brass ensemble adjudicator in 2010 for the Alaska State Solo/Ensemble Music Festival and composition judge for the 2008 MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) Composition Competition for Alaska.
It is with great pleasure that Linda witnesses her students joy and success in music making. Honor band, all state band, musical theater performances and college degrees in music are just a few of the end results of her student’s hard work.
